The Wolfpack Where Are They Now?

 Crystal Moselle, the director of the movie, was walking down the first avenue in Manhattan when she saw a group of six boys walking towards her. They were all wearing black ray-bans and had waist-length hair. When she stopped and introduced herself, she discovered they had been confined to their house for fourteen years. They bonded with her because of their shared love of film. When Crystal wanted to make a movie, she was funded by the Tribeca Film Institute, and Magnolia Pictures bought the rights to the movie.

Susanne Reisenbichler and her six sons were held captive by her husband for many years in a cramped New York City apartment. She and her children gave an interview reflecting on what happened to them in response to a similar situation in California. The Californian family, the Turpins, kept their 12 children captive, and they were only rescued when their eldest escaped and called 911. Susanne Reisenbichler said that she and her sons had more freedom when compared to the Turpins, but there were too many similarities for them to ignore. All the brothers and the mother now live separately. Susanne Reisenbichler is now estranged from her husband, and the boys are all out in society now.

The Wolfpack

The Wolfpack is an American documentary film that came out in 2015. It was directed by Crystal Moselle and is about the Angulo family. The family homeschooled and raised their six children in the confinement of their apartment. The movie came out in January 2015 at the Sundance Film Festival. The movie won the U.S. Documentary Grand Jury Prize.

The Wolfpack Synopsis

The six children of the Angulo family were locked away inside their apartment for 14 years. The brothers were Bhagavan (b. 1991/1992), twins Narayana (who now goes by Josef) and Govinda (b. 1993/1994), Mukunda (b. 1995/1996), Krisna (who now goes by Glenn, b. 1997/1998), and Jagadesh (who now goes by Eddie, b. 1998/1999). They all learned about the outside world through movies and reenacted them. Their father was the only one who had the keys, and he kept their mother and the children confined inside the house. One day against his father's wishes, Mukunda decides to walk around their neighbourhood.

The Wolfpack Reception

Rotten Tomatoes has given the film an 85% approval rating from 125 film reviewers. The summary on the website reads, "Offering a unique look at modern fears and our fascination with film, The Wolfpack is a fascinating—and ultimately haunting—urban fable." Metacritic has given the film a score of 74 out of 100 based on 25 reviews. They are generally favourable reviews.
